SA driller picks up speed
Gulftex Energy is on its way to surpassing its 2020 permitting activity.
San Antonio-based Gulftex Energy submitted four applications to drill new wells in Karnes County last week, putting it on track toward a productive 2021.
Gulftex has filed nine drilling permit applications this year compared to 12 over all of 2020 — a difficult year for the oil and gas industry. The company filed for 29 permits in South Texas in 2019, which was its busiest year since its founding.
The four applications submitted last week are for wells on two leases in Karnes City, all targeting the Eagle Ford Shale at a depth of 12,500 feet. One of the wells is 5.5 miles south of Falls City, while the other three will be drilled on a lease just north of Karnes City, according to the applications.
